Window Tinting Myths and Misconceptions - Solved by Protective Film Specialists

Myth 1: Window tinting only offers aesthetic benefits to vehicles

Contrary to the belief that window tinting serves only aesthetic purposes, it actually comes with a variety of practical advantages that are more vital than not. High-grade window tinting can effectively block harmful UV rays, offering added protection for the vehicle's occupants. Not only that, window tinting also plays an important role in maintaining a cooler interior temperature by reducing the amount of infrared heat that penetrates the windows of your vehicle. Window tinting will contribute to increased interior privacy, safeguarding both passengers and belongings inside the vehicle.

Myth 2: Window tinting can inadvertently ruin my windows

There's this strange misconception that tinting your vehicle’s windows will damage the glass surface or that it is somehow permanent and irremovable. However, when the team at Protective Film Specialists applies the window tint film package you select, we do so with professional excellence. There is absolutely NO risk of damaging your vehicle's windows with our carefully selected products and installation service! The window tint film is actually removable, allowing for flexibility if you choose to change it later. We actually offer window tint film removal if it is needed.

Myth 3: Darker window tint film products are more effective

Do you believe that the darker a window tint film package is, the better it performs in blocking heat and UV rays? That is understandable; however, it is a misguided belief. In reality, the efficiency of a window tint film package in shielding against heat and ultraviolet light is more dependent on its quality and material rather than its shade. For example, some top-of-the-line ceramic window tinting materials we provide are almost transparent but are extremely effective in filtering out both heat and harmful UV radiation. Therefore, it is essential to focus on the quality and type of tint you choose here at Protective Film Specialists, rather than simply opting for the darkest option.

New Hampshire Has Specific Regulations for Vehicle Window Tinting

The rules of the road apply to all vehicle types here in the state of New Hampshire. No one vehicle is excluded from the regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation, and this is all for the benefit of driver and passenger safety. Window tinting is certainly no exception, as we have quite specific rules that must be followed for having window tint film packages applied to your vehicle. We at Protective Film Specialists have those rules and regulations mastered and even further, we have simplified them for our clients below:

window tint visualizer

Let’s start at the front of your vehicle with regard to your windshield. Any size vehicle is allowed to have a non-reflective windshield tint film strip applied; however, it must either be above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line OR only 6 inches down from the top, and it must allow up to 35% of visible light transmission into the vehicle. For the front driver and passenger side windows of any vehicle type, window tinting should allow for 70% of visible light transmission, while rear driver and passenger side windows must allow for 35% of visible light transmission. That same 35% VLT is required for rear windshields on vehicles.

In the state of New Hampshire, no window tint film package can be reflective or exhibit a metallic or mirrored appearance whatsoever. If you are curious about any further information regarding our specific window tint film packages, how they fall under the rules set forth by the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, or if you want to know more about window tint film removal, please call 4Protective Film Specialists directly at   (603) 365-2826.
